Last year Sport Wellington visited to create a video about the PALS programme they helped us to implement as part of our commitment to being a SportStart School. We love how this has enabled our tamariki to develop the skills of playing games together that all ages of our school can enjoy. A special thank you to our 2017 Year 6 students who star in this video, Miss Wylie who has supported this initative and Georgina Duindam from Sport Wellington.
Pals (Physical Activity Leaders)
Intro
The Year 5s and 6 students have been learning how to be a Pal which is a physical activity leader. We have learnt how to run our own games for the younger students. One team will running a game on Monday and Wednesday at lunchtimes when the library is closed. The younger ones can join in at lunchtime and play a fun game. The aim of Pals is to give year 1-4s a opportunity to start playing games by themselves. – Ananyaa
How it works
Pals is a great way to teach the year 5 and 6s thing like teamwork, leadership, communication and motivation. Pals is a great way to give the year 1-4s something fun to do at lunchtime while the pals team learn how to be good leaders. All in all it’s a great way for everyone to have fun whether your playing the game or leading it. -Maddy
