William Pike Challenge Walk
As the clock struck 9:00 the expectant whispers filled the air,
everybody was excited about the walk.
No sooner had we left had the chatter started up like a hive of angry bees and Hugh’s dog.
Everybody was thinking the same thing where were we heading? Were we all going to make it? What would we hear ,and what would we see?
Further and further we traveled until we could walk no more then we came to eat and rest.
After we had rested and eaten we started the walk back to school.
When we entered the bush we decided to take the long way back but we soon regretted it.
Soon the others were lost to shadows as I ran to catch up I heard Lucas shout out to take the stairs at the time I didn’t know what that meant but I soon found out.
I came to a crossroad one path leading up and one straying to the side I didn’t know what to do then I remembered what Lucas said so I decided to take the path leading up and stepped out of the bush.

William Pike Challenge walk
The whispers of excitement filled the classroom air.
Shaky knees, expectant eyes, determined bodies just ready to fly.
All out the door, onto the road, through the muddy park and down the dark road.
Where are we going? What will we see ?
Can we all make it ? Or will we all bleed ?
Further and further, stumbling along, looking and listening,
birds singing their song.
Upwards and downwards, children all moaning.
On to the footpath and cars are just groaning.
Down the stairs, up the hill,
around the ponds to the tranquil chill.
The clashing of stones while flicker is splashing,
the rustle of water while children are panting.
Back where we came, fighting through the pain,
Up the loop, the almighty troop.
Together we did it, relieved and exhausted,
Muscles all sore and ready to snore.
