Interzone Cross Country
Cardinal McKeefry had two students compete in the Interzone Cross Country at Macalister Park on the 24th of June. Kristian came 24th overall in the year 4 boys and Flynn came 13th overall in the year 8 boys. We are very proud of Kristian and Flynn’s accomplishments.
Yesterday it was Interzones at Macalister Park. At the race there were hundreds of kids there. When it was my race I was feeling nervous, when the gun was shot out I ran slowly. I was one of the last people but when I came to the finish line I came 24th out of 60 people. My face was red and puffed out.

Room 5 Artists at Work
Claude Monet was a French impressionist painter who tried to show the effect of the changing colours of light. Near the end of his life Monet did a series of paintings of the pond in his garden showing the effect of light and shade on the water.
The tamariki in Room 5 have been learning about the techniques he used to create this art. They then used these new techniques to create their own water lily painting.
Room 4 Mathematicians and Scientists Part 2
On Tuesday we made pancakes. This was during Inquiry but we tied it into our maths learning as well because we were able to cut the pancakes into pieces and name the fractions. We predicted that the pancake mix would turn into a liquid when we added water to it and then we predicted that it would become a solid once it was cooked. Our predictions were spot on! We are feeling pretty pleased with ourselves this week.
Room 4 Mathematicians Exploring Fractions Part 1
This week in Room 4 we have been learning about fractions. On Monday we made sandwiches and we cut them in half and in quarters. We chose to put vegemite or jam on our sandwich. Some of us asked Mrs Reynard to cut the crusts off for us.
