This week in room 4 we have been looking at measurement, specifically ordering and comparing objects by length, area and time. We built a town with the blocks to help us to understand about area and length. Mrs Reynard brought Oliver’s cars to school and we drove these around our town. It was so much fun. We used maths language such as over, under, through, on, near, far, backwards, towards, beside, next to and reversing when we were talking about the buildings we created and as we drove our cars around the town. We even raced our cars down the street and timed how long this took.

Sixty four students, staff and 18 parents from Cardinal McKeefry School in Wilton enjoyed a winters’ march through Otari bush on Friday.
They were celebrating Movin’ March – a month long celebration of active travel to school, promoted by Greater Wellington Regional Council.
For over 10 years the school has been engaged with the council, said Estelle Henrys, the school librarian. 2017 was a winner for the school community as they won the Movin’ March draw for a shared breakfast.
Parents were encouraged to drop their children off at the Otari Park main entrance or join in the walk themselves. Several parents took advantage of the chance to get out in nature with their pre-schoolers and puppies.
Their efforts were rewarded with a breakfast of milo and toast at school and spot prizes.
