Technology – constructing stretchers

April 14, 2016 By Tania Savage

In week 10 Term 1 2016 Rooms 2 and 5 got into groups for technology. Rachael, Shakti, Nell and Lucas were in a group called Rua. Our topic for technology this term was to build stretchers. The reason for this was to carry Pinky (Rm 2 mascot) around the hall. The materials we could use were staples, newspaper, tape and string. For our presentation we could use I movie, power point, keynote and movie maker.

The judges were to the right of us. We were nervous as we waited for our turn. All that was running through our minds was … will the stretcher hold? As we laid Pinky down and picked Pinky up, our newspaper stretcher was crackling softly. We were relieved that it did not break.

The tension was brewing up in the hall as the judges were deciding the places. Our group’s aim was to come second or third. Miss Wylie called for a drumroll third place was “Iwi” Amelia’s group. Second place was Blake’s group. We were all holding our breath with our fingers crossed. Mrs Reynard announced the winner. It was us! I was so happy that we won since I thought our group deserved to win! Drew, Darcey, Liza and Eamonn

Technology this week was very successful and very enjoyable and the results were very good. This is group 10’s version of technology. The people in my team were Luca, Helen, Libby and Nicholas. The result was good until our stretcher collapsed next to the piano. The next day we started again and scored with the presentation Highly Recommended.
