Fencing, Handball, Floorball and Gymnastics

Rooms 1 and 2  completed their Fencing, Handball and Gymnastics s modules at the ASB Sports Centre, Kilbirnie. While Rooms 3, 4 and 5 will finish their Gymnastics and Floorball, also held at ASB, next week

Artsplash

Our students took part in Artsplash Art, Choir and Dance during week 7 of Term 3. Isla’s writing captures some of the excitement of this event:

My heart thumped hard against my chest as the light blinded my eyes. The silver disco ball shone over us, my eyes glued to the crowds 100 eyes staring at me. We boogied to the music. I felt nervous as the next song began. The music filled my ears as the musicians started playing. My favourite song, it was the corner of the sky where Kezia had her solo. I thought she sang great! The best she could.  Isla Pascall — Room 2

Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat

In week 7 the whole school  enjoyed the talents of St Teresa’s school as they performed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat.

Yesterday we went to St Teresa’s because their school performed Joseph and the dreamcoat. The singing was beautiful. I thought it was ultra mega cool.  Austin Kilvington — Rm 3

Yesterday our school watched a play called Joseph and his technicoloured dreamcoat. I loved the lovely singing and dancing because it made me feel happy and joyful.  Eva Ybarra — Rm 3

Celebrating the Cardinal McKeefry Community

September 29, 2015 By Tania Savage

What a lovely few wDanceeeks we have had with our students and community. Our students were definitely the stars of Artsplash. It is so wonderful to take part in these events as they allow all students to broaden their life experiences while working together as a team. A special mention to Tracey and Tash of the Tracey Odell School of Dance who choreographed the dance and supported the students through 5 weeks of  practice and dress rehearsal and the performance.

Dancing was also on the agenda at Shaken not Stirred over the weekend. The final amount raised will be announced next week as costs are yet to be deducted. I have heard through the grapevine that many of our guest expressed an admiration for the close parent community we have here at Cardinal McKeefry School.

Finally we all came together on Wednesday 9 of September to raise awareness and funds for the Heart Foundation through a joint skip off. There were a variety of performances from each class. During the jump off the willingness of our parent community to join in added to the specialness of this day.  We raised  a total of $374.40.

Spotlight on Technology

September 29, 2015 By Tania Savage

Image-1
Today I had the pleasure of meeting Angela Lowe, the principal of Newlands Intermediate School, and visiting our students in their technology week classrooms. I was very impressed with the calibre of teaching and the challenge, enjoyment and sense of achievement our students gain from this programme.

Here are a few snap shots of our students in action.
