Financial Literacy

On a recent Friday, Years 2-6 took part  in some fun, but useful “financial literacy” classes facilitated by Jeffrey Crosby.  Students learned a bit about how to make your money work for you and the value of savings.  Perhaps a small increase in participation in our ASB School Banking is a sign of effectiveness.

Term 1 begins

All students have arrived back at school, well prepared and ready for the interesting and challenging range of learning experiences planned for the next eight weeks.  They include: Aquatics, attending International Festival of the Arts performances, some interesting visitors from the community and more.

End of School Year

On a recent Thursday evening Cardinal McKeefry School community gathered in St Teresa’s Church to celebrate the year’s efforts and successes in prayer, song and movement .  The reflective and peaceful ceremony was a wonderful way to help bring the end of the  school year to a close.

EOTC 2009

Year 1-6 EOTC programme was another great success this year. 
Three of the highlight days:
Year 4-6 five hour tramp along the ridge of Johnson’s Hill.
Year 1-3 exploring treasures of Wellington – Te Papa, City Gallery and Wellington Public Library. 
Year 4-6 orienteering, bush craft and archery.

Camp 2009

Year 7 and 8 students have returned from their Camp at Otaki.

Mathematics Success

Congratulations to this year’s Mathswell team, who achieved fourth place in the Wellington Year 8 Mathswell Competition.

Technology Champions

The Timelords, Michael H, William V and Nathan L, took first place in the Junior Dance Category in the recent Wellington Region Junior Robocup championships at Scots College. Congratulations to you all.

Hockey

Jamie from Wellington Hockey has been working with students and teachers  helping us get ready for the WZ tournament coming up on Tuesday 8 September.

Daffodil Day

Our annual response to the Cancer Society’s Daffodil Day Appeal raised $325.00. Well done and thank you to all those who supported this day.
